The following items can be placed at the roadside/curb for pickup: Appliances, tires, mattresses and box springs, furniture, carpet, construction and demolition materials if they are contained in 32 gallon cans (or less) that weigh less than 60 pounds (no limit on the number of cans). City of Burlington residents may drop off old mercury thermometers, light bulbs and used household batteries at the Wastewater Treatment Facility, 2100 S Pine St. Monday-Friday 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Residents may also drop off used motor oil and antifreeze at the Public Works Facility, 2200 S Pine St. Monday-Friday 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
